Job Context

    Visually Impaired People`s Society (VIPS) is a national level right based disabled people`s organization established on 4th January 2005 with an initiative of a group of persons with visual disabilities. It is one of the leading Blind Organization of Bangladesh. Aim of this democratic organization is to empower the persons with visual impairment as well as persons with disabilities. Since establishment, this organization has been involved in advocacy activities with Government and Mainstream organizations to protect the rights of persons with disabilities. VIPS has been providing different training programs like computer training, android operating system training, mobility training and embossing Braille books, documents for visually impaired persons.

Job Responsibilities

  • Maintain petty cash and cash advance registers.
  • Maintain bank book.
  • Checks invoices with all supporting documents and prepare payments, receipts and journals.
  • Record vouchers and posting in to accounting software (tally)
  • Calculate relevant VAT/taxes and deposit to government exchequer.
  • Cash and cheque transactions with banks.
  • Prepare monthly bank and cash reconciliation.
  • Timely perform monthly closure of all books of accounts as per organization’s policy.
  • Assist Manager to prepare monthly budget vs. expenditure report against donor and NGOAB budget.
  • Assist Manager to prepare audit report as well as enable to face group audit, NGOAB audit and Donor audit.
  • Make payments for the various transactions of the office and keep detailed records and files of these transactions.
  • Support the achievement of projects financial objectives by anticipating requirements, submitting information for budget preparation, scheduling expenditures, monitoring costs and analyzing variances, in adherence to financial and accounting regulations.
  • Knowledge of Auditing, Accounting, Financial Management and budget planning.
  • 2 years or more of experience with NGOs, INGOs, OPDs or other similar programs.
  • Perform any other task assigned by the supervisor or VIPS management authority.
  • HR Related:
  • Provide general administrative support, including but not limited to: executive assistance, management of correspondence, preparation of meetings (and minute taking), preparation of documentation and reports related to the project, monitoring of fixed assets, logistics and others as required.
  • Monitor and support in all routine matters as requested by General Secretary/coordinators and in cases of absence, when required, in order to keep abreast of all commitments and tasks of the area.
  • Programming of meeting and travel as required.
  • Assist in all communications with other members of the organization, external stakeholders, follow up to meetings and other key issues related to the area.
  • Maintain Leave tracker for all staffs and maintain staff personal (copy) file.
  • Maintain all types of registers according to the manual.
  • Level of English Language Required
  • Read and understand work instructions or manuals.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues and external contacts on routine work-related matters.

Educational Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration
  • Candidates with MBA degree will get preference.

Experience Requirements

  • At least 2 year(s)

  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English and Bangla.
  • Excellent computer literacy in MS Office programs (specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to multitask effectively under pressure.
  • Demonstrates commitment to learn and acquire knowledge from vastly different sources.
  • Sound understanding of internal and external audit requirements.
  • Results orientated and good reporting skills.
  • Extensive working experience in a similar position and have at least 2 years’ relevant work experience preferably in INGOs/ NGOs
  • Attentive to details and quality of work.
