Based in Dhaka Project Office and Reports to the Technical Director, Esho Shikhi project
Position Overview:
The Manager – Content Development is part of USAID`s Esho Shikhi Project (Esho Shikhi) that is aiming to increase access and improve the learning outcomes of marginalized Bangladeshi children in marginalized and vulnerable communities. The position will be responsible for leading the development of reading and instructional materials, ensuring that the content of the materials developed is effective and adhere to national curriculum and materials and deliver according to approved plan. S/he will also be responsible for guiding the production of digital content and materials for community engagement.
This position will be based in the Esho Shikhi Project Office, Dhaka. S/he will report to the Technical Director of the Esho Shikhi project and will work closely with the Literacy Team of Room to Read Bangladesh.
This position will require frequent travel to project sites, as well as regular interaction with education officials, partners, Head-Teachers and teachers.
The position is contingent upon donor approval.
The appointment will be made initially for 2 years with possibility of extension based on fund availability.
Job Responsibilities
Lead the overall Teaching-learning materials development plan for Esho Shikhi project along with materials for home-learning and family and community engagement.
Provide technical guidance into the development of appropriate teaching resources and instructional materials and ensure reading materials are appropriate for implementing Esho Shikhi’s instructional interventions in early grades
Provide guidance and lead the development process of information/tools, campaign messages and guidelines for Esho Shikhi to support the interventions related to print-rich classroom, locally sourced teaching and learning materials, parental engagement to support learning at home, reading recovery campaign or remedial support by community volunteer and play-based classroom activities that build on Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)
Provide guidance in developing digital content to support remote learning though community hubs, social media, radio/TV, SMS/IVR push
Lead and guide the modifications of Teaching-learning materials and activities based on feedback from the implementation and assessments, in consultation with govt and other experts in the field.
Coordinate the process of designing and developing teaching-learning resources and materials for Esho Shikhi project which may involve sourcing writers and DTP consultants, drafting manuscripts, reviewing, editing, sending to print, etc.
Collaborate with Training team, MERLA team, operation team to enhance the effectiveness of the Materials design and implementation quality; develop evidence of success.
Visits program sites to assess effectiveness of teaching-learning materials design and implementation quality, as well as other purposes
Represent Esho Shikhi project by attending and speaking at relevant forums and advocates for the importance of programs’ work.
Liaise with other NGOs running similar programs to identify areas of knowledge sharing and possible collaboration.
Participates in any other activities which may be required to be undertaken to fulfill the objectives of Esho Shikhi project.

Educational Requirements
A post-graduate degree in education or a social science or any other relevant discipline with a minimum of 10 years of work experience of which at least 5 have been in a management capacity.
Experience Requirements

Additional Requirements
Sufficient technical knowledge of core education agendas, in particular: Curriculum and teaching-learning materials Development, PEDP4 and primary education structure.
Experience in the entire spectrum of activities under program management. This includes program planning and design, implementation and monitoring & evaluation, capacity building and reporting.
Experienced in tracking implementation schedules and supporting effective utilization of budget.
A proven ability to establish effective working relationships and partnerships with diverse stakeholders specially government, partner NGOs, and donors.
Strong team management skills including the ability to supervise multidisciplinary professionals and motivate staff effectively.
Excellent communication skills (oral and written in both English and Bangla) and capability to represent the organization in professional forums.
Preferred:
Experience in teaching at the primary school
Prior experience in printing and publishing field
Prior success working closely and building relationships with diverse groups of people
Prior experience of working in a non-profit organization that is focused on maintaining high quality work and low overhead
Prior experience working with schools, teachers, administrators and government officials
Ability to juggle multiple priorities simultaneously and take initiative
