Job Context

  • ASTHA is currently in its Phase II (January 2019 to December 2022) which will emphasize on business viability of Community Paramedic Training Institutes (CPTIs) and Community Paramedics (CPs) and on acquiring important partnerships for nationwide scaling up and sustainability. The project operates in seven districts, namely, Sylhet, Sunamganj, Barguna, Lalmonirhat, Rangpur, Nilphamari and Patuakhali.
  • The project is working in the following strategic areas:
  • Strengthening CP Programme
  • Enhancing the capacity and service provision of CPs
  • Sensitising and involving public and private scale agents to promote CP service nationwide.
  • Creating mass awareness about CP profession and quality CP services.
  • Swisscontact is inviting applications from development professionals, willing to be a part of ASTHA as the Officer/Senior Officer- field operations.
  • Employment start: Earliest start date as per convenience
  • Contract duration: Until 31 December 2023 initially
  • Place of work: Rangpur / Sylhet, Bangladesh with regular visits to field locations

Job Responsibilities

  • Making field plan based on ASTHA’s Master plan
  • Implementing the field plan according to ASTHA interventions
  • Scoping partnerships with relevant public, private and academia service providers, e.g. new training institutes, e-health platforms, pharmaceutical companies, for imparting knowledge & enhancing skills and business opportunities of Community Paramedics.
  • Arrange different field events e.g. scientific seminar, health camp and market place meeting etc. on a regular basis
  • Follow-up the interventions implemented by associated the partners
  • Arrange events like kit-box distribution ceremony, capacity development for the field facilitators etc. periodically
  • Arrange sensitization meeting with local government authority and local government officials on a regular basis
  • Monitor Community Paramedic service outlets periodically
  • Maintain and update the ASTHA database on a regular basis
  • Collect clearance certificate from Upazila Nirbahi Officer/Deputy Commissioner periodically
  • Communication and Reporting:
  • Collect photos and stories from the field and drafting case studies/success stories
  • Maintain liaison with relevant government agencies
  • Support the Officer- MRM & Knowledge Management for drafting project reports (semester report, annual report, monthly donor update report, management letter)
  • Attend in the NGO coordination meeting at district and sub-district level
  • Others:
  • Maintain the field office
  • Produce invoices, cash request on a regular basis
  • Maintain and update the expenditure database on a regular basis
  • Conduct any other task on mutual consent assigned by the supervisor.

Educational Requirements

  • Minimum Graduate in Business/Economics/Development Studies/ or other relevant disciplines of Social Science;

Additional Requirements

  • Core:
  • Ability to work productively in highly collaborative settings while also able to function independently.
  • Demonstrate ability to manage complexity and to priorities multiple tasks;
  • Proficient in written and oral communication both in Bangla and English;
  • Ability to communicate clearly with project beneficiaries and other target groups;

  • Demonstrate awareness and sensitivity to gender and diversity (including sensitivity towards differently able people);

  • Technical:
  • Minimum Graduate in Business/Economics/Development Studies/ or other relevant disciplines of Social Science;
  • At least two years of relevant professional experience in development organisations/projects/programmes and familiar with project management
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and other relevant computer applications
  • Experience of working with local, national NGOs and INGOs will be an advantage
  • Physical Demands
  • Field visits play a large part in the incumbent’s activities; as such, it is expected that the incumbent is willing and able to take part in such activities as and when needed and sometimes within short notice.
  • Working Conditions and Environment: This will be applicable according to the Swisscontact Staff Manual.
