Job Context

• BADAS-Centre for Health Research and Implementation, formerly BADAS-Perinatal Care Project (PCP) is a joint collaboration between the Diabetic Association of Bangladesh (BADAS) and Institute for Global Health (IGH) University College London and Department of Health Sciences, University of York, UKwhich has been working since 2002 on diverse health issues including non-communicable diseases. BADAS-Perinatal Care Project is looking for a qualified male candidate for the position of `Research Associate` for its “Developing and evaluating an adapted behavioural activation intervention for people with depression and diabetes in South Asia (DiaDem)” project. This study will involve delivering a new psychological talking therapy in Bangladesh named `Behavioural Activation` to study participants
• Duration: 12 months, with a possibility of extension for a further 6 months.
• Job Location:Sylhet Diabetic Association Hospital, Sylhet.

Job Responsibilities

• Recruitment of study participants at BIRDEM Hospital, Dhaka, Sylhet Diabetic Association Hospital, Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital by liaising with doctors and hospital management in both Sylhet and Dhaka
• Anthropometric measurements (weight, height, circumferences) of study participants including blood pressure measurements as per protocol
• Administering questionnaire to study participants on mobile/tablet
• Establishing network and communication with study participants receiving the intervention, their families and health care staff, government and non- government stakeholders in both Sylhet and Dhaka
• Maintaining and monitoring profile of study participant and stakeholders
• All required support to the Research Coordinator and the quantitative and qualitative teams
• Organizing community panel meetings and stakeholder workshops
• Regular submission of activity reports to Dhaka office
• Development of leaflets, booklets and research materials relevant to the study
• Maintain regular correspondence with the field Staff, members of the project team in Dhaka office

Educational Requirements

• MBBS, with full registration from Bangladesh Medical & Dental Council (BM&DC). In addition, candidates having a Master of Public Health (MPH) are encouraged to apply as well although this is not a mandatory requirement.

Experience Requirements

• At least 1 year(s)

Additional Requirements

• Atleast 1 year experience in clinical practice after completion of internship. An interest in public health and research will be given priority. We are seeking a male candidate from the Sylhet region due to study requirements.
• Good written and spoken English
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to build rapport with the team and in a community setting
• Good computer skills (MS Word/ Excel)
• Ability to develop research materials such as leaflets, booklets etc.

Job Location

Salary

• Tk. 50000 – 55000 (Monthly)
• However the salary is negotiable based on experience, qualifications and current salary.
