Staff Lawyer

Job Description

Position Description: BLAST seeks qualified, experienced Staff Lawyers for Head Office (High Court Cell). The position of Staff Lawyer is required to Interview clients for legal aid before the Supreme Court and receive applications for needed legal aid, provide opinions with respect to the merits of applications receiving legal assistance in the high court, draft petitions as required, liaise with panel lawyers regarding cases, advising or assisting on PIL related matters, drafting, assisting with and coordinating the conduct of pending, and preparing regular activity reports including work progress reports.

Job Responsibilities

• Interviewing clients for legal aid before the Supreme Court and receiving applications of legal assistance required.
• Providing opinions with respect to the merits of applications receiving legal aid in the high court or submitting applications to the DD legal for opinion.
• Drafting petitions as required.
• Liaising with panel lawyers regarding cases and other activities as per BLAST guidelines.
• Advising or assisting on PIL-related matters or seeking advice on such matters from other relevant persons including HED, other BLAST staff, or panel lawyers.
• Drafting, assisting with and coordinating the conduct of pending cases including PILs in the Supreme Court.
• Preserving case files and related records on the case management system and PIL database.
• Prepare notes for necessary approval regarding cases.
• Attending and Organizing meetings and seminars as required.
• Preparing regular activity reports, including work progress reports, as required.
• He is performing any other relevant tasks as and when required by the management.

Job Qualification

• LLB/LLM degree from any reputed institution.
